- Artist Statement
- As a sculptor, I am drawn to working with wood for its organic and unique qualities. The grain carries a visible history, a record of growth and time that I seek to highlight in my work. The parallel constructions of the sculpture Zig Zag Chroma V (2025), are built like porticos, supported by their mirror reflection. In the work, colour simultaneously balances and undermines the form; as the viewer’s eye moves from the coloured to the unpainted wooden surface. Here colour and tone usually used to describe shape, destabilise the form, as a type of three-dimensional optical illusion is created.
