- Artist Statement
- "White Light" forms part of my ongoing artwork and practice of 30 years using the image of the ape and monkey as a way to analyse humans position within the natural world. Based on the Japanese Macaque "snow " monkey this work links the viewer and monkey in an intimate moment of nirvana, with the bathing monkey seeks the spiritual oasis found in white light, the symbol of purity and of God and god-self . Acknowledged by scientists as an evolutionary adaptation by mimicking humans in seeking the mineral waters, this monkeys DND is also believed to be adapting to its changed environment .
