- Artist Statement
- Artist statement Genevieve Carroll I love the Natura Morta still life history, the everyday objects used as symbols to convey to the viewer to ponder on how to live ones own life. In my artwork I have developed my own exaggerated symbols, replacing the hourglass with the iPhone, it appears to be sliding towards the edge of the table, precarious, representing shifting time and memory. A brick home propped up by structures, a symbol representing the experience of home, supports and memories and what that means to us. The painting questions us to ask what is certain and what is not in this shifting world.
