- VESSEL #4 emerges from Fristad’s post-graduate research, reflecting on her personal experience of cultural dislocation and the generational loss of knowledge within her family. By sourcing images of mass-produced domestic objects and reimagining them as metaphysical vessels, the work conveys grief over the loss of her cultural identity. The objects, absences, and white voids symbolise her enduring experience of cultural dislocation within Australia, and the loss of Indigenous information, artefacts, and cultural knowledge.
