- My drawing symbolises a transitional state, a liminal gap. This state implies change. The change could be physical, emotional or spiritual. The drawing symbolises the gap between one state and the next, a being at a threshold, a becoming, a metamorphosis. The old has been left behind and the new has not yet arrived, all is mysterious with a sense of uncertainty and anticipation. The drawing consists of a series of overlayed, intertwined lines in chalk pastel. Layers of line and colour are built up, rubbed back and redrawn. Abstraction is an effective method to convey the intangible and unseeable.
