Detailed Instructions for the setup of your instillation / sculpture
The work is presented as a photographic image on perspex, in which the earrings are worn by the depicted figure, suspended from hooks embedded directly into the surface at the position of her ears. The image is fitted with a concealed rear mounting system for wall installation. The earrings pass through the pierced ears of the figure in the image and may be physically removed and worn. Judges are invited to handle and try on the earrings, completing a loop between image, object, and body. Materials: 24-carat gold leaf on Australian banknotes, natural salt and pepper diamonds, sterling silver, and solid 28-carat gold hooks.

Artist Statement
This work is a bookmark in time, recording the economic, technological, and ever shifting conditions shaping contemporary life. Handmade earrings, crafted from Australian banknotes gilded with 24 carat gold and cut into wattle leaves, embody slow, methodical processes of a master metalsmith devoted to her craft. Symbols of value are transformed into precious adornment. What is usually abstract and invisible becomes physical, heavy, and designed to be worn on the body. Hidden within the leaves, tiny ants labour tirelessly, unnoticed yet ceaseless. The wearer, a generated figure, gazes calmly from a black mirror.
