- Marisa Purcell’s work invites a quiet inquiry into the nature of perception. What lies beyond what we can name, beyond what our senses allow us to grasp? Her abstract paintings ask both artist and viewer to suspend certainty, and to stay open to what cannot be immediately seen or explained. Working in abstraction allows language to fall away, creating space for new, divergent connections—ones that exist just beyond the surface of everyday reality. The painting process is improvisational and intuitive, guided by an ongoing conversation with the unknown.
