- This image captures a quiet moment between my husband and our granddaughter as he introduces her to the art of beekeeping. The protective suits symbolise both safety and vulnerability and her bravery and inquisitiveness was heartwarming. I was particularly struck by the red gloves creating a startling contrast and further emphasised the inherent threat to the bees and ecosystem. Sadly a few months after this image was recorded we lost all our hives to the parasitic Varroa Mite. In my art practice I am drawn to explore the contrast between the figure and the landscape.
