- I am interested in the stuff of human existence, especially of feminine living. I have long desired to engage with an archetype of feminine domesticity. The teacup: often fussy, unfashionable and found languishing on the dusty shelves of charity shops. My materials are gleaned from these very outlets - cast off remnants of traditional needlework: sewing patterns, fabric and haberdashery. In this work I have considered the global culture of tea-drinking and enjoyed playing with the juxtaposition of enclosed interior versus visible exterior. Furthermore, as a long-time aged-care nurse, I have reflected upon the experience of aging.
