- Artist Statement
- “Stoic” is a figurative character drawn from the imagination as well as the built environment. Its vertical tower like structure possesses a gravitas and solidity. The main body of the tower is crowned with a spikey almost regal headdress juxtaposed with a textured horizontally ribbed base. The overall composition imbues the figure with a totem like presence. Subtle detail is added through the application of a clear glaze to highlight aspects of the form as well as the texture of the clay, whilst still maintaining a cohesive whole.
