- The Sienna Fontana painting unfolds memories of a recent artist residency in Mantova, Italy. In translucent layers of paint the warm hues of the landscape surfaces - I walk through the Bosco Fontana forest while looking through veils of trees. Gestural movement equally illuminates the fluidity of dual 'homelands'. An analogy between Nordic and Queensland light merges into the palette of Italy. Abstraction and figuration collaborate in embodied sensations as the eye is guided towards the horizon: an ever-present line interconnecting the notion of living within light and place.
