- The shadows that hit my studio wall in the mid-afternoon created shapes on my canvas from the trees and window frame structures. There is a monochromatic flatness to this mixed light picture plane, but the depth is indicated by the variation in tone. This image resounds with the painting support structure, so I wanted to reference it, floating in front like an apparition from the past, a print ravaged from time and the elements, perhaps found abandoned somewhere. The mono print is akin to block printing, immediate and direct, like the shadows.
