- Sylvia Ken paints the Seven Sisters Tjukurpa (Creation Story). The Pleiades are the Seven Sisters, and the nearby constellation Orion is Nyiru or Nyirunya, described as a lusty and dangerous man. Nyiru endlessly chases the sisters, the Kunkarunkara women, seeking to marry the eldest. To escape his unwanted attention, the sisters travel between sky and earth, taking human form, yet Nyiru always follows. Using magic, he tempts them by turning into Kampurarpra (bush tomatoes) and a beautiful Ili (fig) tree. Too clever for Nyiru's ways, the sisters resist and flee, always returning to the sky to reform the constellation.
