- Artist Statement – Self Portrait with Monsters – 137x122cms oil and arylic on linen Wendy Sharpe This painting is a reflection of living with anxiety in a world on fire. Who or what these monsters are precisely, is open ended, They echo war, climate collapse, inequity , rising totalitarianism, and the creeping existential dread . Anxiety is embodied here as visible, visceral entities, lurking at the edge of consciousness. These monsters are not just symbolic; they are intimate, familiar, always near.
