- Savannah Jarvis is an Meanjin/Brisbane based artist whose paintings explore pain communication, frequently adopting architectural motifs. Altered interiors act as metaphors for inhabiting a body that feels haunted, out-of-step, or structurally different from others. By painting rooms that behave like pain-bodies, Savannah examines how we communicate discomfort beyond medical language, and how imagery holds the complexity of living with persistent pain. These interiors offer metaphorical languages for communicating pain beyond the medical gaze, inviting viewers to consider the constructive labours of simply inhabiting a body. Savannah has completed a BFA with Honours (2020) and is currently undertaking her Doctorate.
