- I am compelled to engage with the land not just as a subject to be admired, but as a complex and often exploited entity—one that bears the scars of colonialism, environmental degradation, and climate crisis. The landscapes I paint are not neutral; they are recognizable icons that people use to marvel of and reconnect with nature. By focusing on monochromatic tones and gestural marks, I aim to reduce the landscape from the physical to the atmospheric. Hoping to evoke a sense of urgency and simplicity, capturing not only the stark beauty of the land, but also the complex, often brutal realities of its ongoing transformation under human influence.
