- Artist Statement
- Potent Crumbs alludes in its title to the process of its making, referring to the images and materials I gather and combine in my paintings. The work draws on scenes of a Florida resort alongside elements from my everyday environment, including the nocturnally blooming Epiphyllum oxypetalum ‘Queen of the Night’. These sources are brought together through layering and revision, allowing relationships between images to emerge. Figures appear only faintly, allowing absence to become an active presence. Through this approach, the work reflects my ongoing way of working, where paintings are built slowly through layering, revision, and return.
