- Ornamental is a portrait series that forms part of my art practice, which centres on working with subjects from diverse multicultural backgrounds and pairing them with multicultural themes. Drawing on the visual language of 16th-century royal portraiture, the subjects are posed with formality and elevation, granting them a regal presence. Set against decorative surfaces, the work celebrates cultural identity while exploring how beauty, tradition, and symbolism shape visibility and value. Through considered use of lighting, colour, and texture, contemporary individuals are repositioned within a fine art historical framework.
