- This work engages with the capacity of paintings to serve as records of dynamic activity, where methodological decisions converge, retaining the embodied energy of their creation. I explore the proposition of a painting as an ongoing event that holds a mass of potential for exchange with past and future works through a continuous studio practice. Forms within the paintings exist simultaneously in states of assemblage and dissolution, oscillating between image and object, abstraction and figuration. Works are improvised in the moment, allowing space for experimentation, intention, and ambiguity to play integral roles in a process of creation, excavation, and inquiry.
