- Artist Statement
- I recently visited Kandos, a small inland town in NSW with a once thriving industrial past. There was a great sense of community there. I have tried to reflect some of the character of the town through its old buildings, drawing with chalky pastel pencils to reproduce the patina of their paintwork. I also wanted to capture the light and the intensely blue skies with their ever-changing cloud formations. Bowling clubs interest me especially. With little money spent on their exteriors, they have adapted from traditional bowling with dress codes and restrictions to relaxed social hubs for the whole community.
