- Artist Statement
- Women have always been crafters, artists and creators. However, in the landscape of patriarchy our contributions have rarely been acknowledged, taken seriously or acclaimed. hey Picasso! is a comment on the changing attitudes and values since Bulls Head (a show of masculinity made from found objects) was exhibited in the last century. All the materials and resources used for this work have been found on the internet. Notions surrounding expressions of gender and male hegemony are challenged. Faux snake skin, the shifting colours of iridescence and the heart beat of colour contribute to contemporary ideas of participation, inclusion and change.
