- Artist Statement
- Healing Towards Transformation (Chrysanthemum and Butterfly) invites reflection on mythology, memory, and the layered dialogue between cultural symbols. Centred on the West Queen Mother, the mythical guardian of the peaches of immortality, the work explores the tensions and harmonies between Eastern and Western iconographies through Louise’s perspective as a third culture individual. Soft lines and ethereal colour blocks create a space that hovers between the real and the surreal. Viewers are drawn into a dreamlike terrain that feels intimate yet unfamiliar, where transformation unfolds gently and healing is suggested as an ongoing, fluid process rather than a fixed destination.
