- Artist Statement
- Rugged cliffs at the North-Western edge of Tasmania face the largest uninterrupted expanse of ocean on Earth. Here, the vastness and power of the sea overwhelms the senses. The evidence of powerful, wild storms is clear from driftwood logs perched on high cliffs all along the coast. I use the clean, sharp lines typical of the reduction linocut technique, to depict the harsh rock edges, which are emphasised in their contrast with the graduated layers of colour of the constantly moving water. This is truly the edge between the solid rock of our world and the vast, fluid, ocean.
