- My work titled ‘Dust to Dust’, was captured in the remote wilderness of Lapland, just 500 meters from the Russian border. In this harsh environment, winter temperatures plummet below -30 degrees Celsius, creating a stark and frozen landscape. This piece draws inspiration from an extraordinary event in 2021 when desert dust from northern Africa travelled over 5000 kilometers to reach Finland. The atmospheric dust mingled with freezing rain and snow, painting the pristine Finnish landscape in hues rarely seen. This phenomenon underscores the profound changes occurring in our atmospheric circulation patterns & arid environments.
