- Nail Can Hill is a bushland that, at first glance, can appear innocuous—marked by broken branches, weedy grasses, and scraggly trees. Yet with time and slow looking, curious nuances emerge. Whimsical forms, delicate intricacies, and subtle rhythms reveal themselves, transforming the landscape into something gentle and quietly thought-provoking. My objective is to bring these observations into this painting, allowing close attention and sustained looking to guide the work. Every inch of the surface is considered, honouring the overlooked beauty and quiet complexity of this scrubland.
