- Artist Statement
- Anne Davis was the first woman to be executed in NSW, Australia in 1789. At the age of 30, she was hanged at Sydney Cove for stealing 4 shirts, 2 vests and a handkerchief. This disordered and fragile stack of porcelain items serves as a visual marker of the stolen garments that led to Anne Davis’ death. The art works slapdash and insignificant arrangement I hope highlights the unfortunate lack of care and insignificance for a woman’s life.
