- Artist Statement
- Photographed at the tidal edge of Sydney Airport, this work traces a landscape shaped by colonisation and transformation, from the former Lachlan Swamps to the engineered margins of contemporary infrastructure. Using 590nm infrared, the image records wavelengths beyond human sight, rendering foliage in spectral luminosity as chlorophyll shifts into unseen colour. Printed on metallic rag paper, the photograph acquires a subtle shimmer as light moves across its surface, causing tones to shift with the viewer’s position. This instability echoes the site’s continual reconfiguration and frames landscape as an active interface, where visibility, erasure, and meaning emerge through movement and attention.
