Advancing Art and Opportunity

The Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize is an annual prize that was founded to advance art and opportunity for emerging and established female artists in Australia. There are two prize categories, including a $35, 000 prize — the richest professional art prize for women in Australia. Artwork judging will be overseen by 2017 Prize Patron and acclaimed artist, Jennifer Turpin, and announced at the exhibition opening on 4 August, 2017. Join us as we celebrate the finest female talent in Australia.

As Principal of Ravenswood I am delighted to present the Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize. Inspiring and connecting female visual artists, this significant Art Prize will strengthen the profile and legitimacy of careers in art for current and future generations of Australian women.
— Anne Johnstone, Principal, Ravenswood

As Chairman of the Ravenswood Foundation, it is an honour to launch the first Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize. The prize has been established to raise the profile of this country’s great female artists and to assist in helping the next generation of artists reach their fullest potential. The initiative is also expected to provide great opportunities for Ravenswood students and young people generally to immerse in art.
